The Union at St. Johns

This mixed use project includes 100 apartments, 20,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, and an underground parking garage. Located at the intersection of N. Lombard and Charleston, the site sits at a key gateway to downtown St. Johns.

The building is organized around a series of courtyards, and it steps back from the sidewalk, creating gracious public gathering spaces, including a pedestrian plaza at Charleston and Lombard. Its design takes cues from historic St. Johns and Portland’s many streetcar-era commercial districts. Narrow vertical bays, generous windows and a rich material palette give the building visual interest and a human scale.
